Sovini Trade Supplies recently saw the successful completion of their first Rising Stars programme, a training programme focussing on a range of skills designed to help individuals throughout the organisation, within a variety of roles, develop and progress both personally and professionally.

First launched in July 2021, the Rising Stars is a 9-month programme consisting of workshops delivered by The Sovini group Learning and Development and HR departments, mentorship and 1-1 coaching sessions from members of the management team, the opportunity to mentor others within the business and two wider business projects.

With one of the business projects focussing on helping local charities – including the Bootle Tool Shed and the Kindfulness Coffee Club, also in Bootle – aligning firmly with the values of Sovini Trade Supplies and the wider Sovini Group, and another focussing on the opening of a new Sovini Trade Supplies branch, the Stars were given valuable insight into various aspects of the business.  

To be selected for the programme, applicants were required to complete an application form and attend an interview, in which they gave a short presentation. Each of the selected applicants demonstrated the ambition and drive that the Rising Stars programme encompasses.

Since the inception of the programme, each of the Stars has developed both professionally and personally – which is testament to their character, hard work and determination – including 5 being promoted to more senior roles.

For their graduation, the Stars were treated to a morning aboard The Pride of Sefton, a canal boat which sails through the Liverpool waterways and into the iconic Albert Dock, followed by drinks and pub games in Liverpool city centre. It was a great day and a well-deserved celebration for the first intake of Rising Stars.

Due to the success of the first cohort, applications for the Rising Stars programme 22/23 are already open for Sovini Trade Supplies employees. We look forward to seeing our next group of Rising Stars and to creating opportunities and changing lives!
