At Sovini Trade Supplies, we’re proud to be celebrating Women in Construction week. We sat down with our Key Account Coordinator, Emma, to throw some quick fire questions at her regarding women in construction.

What’s your role within STS and what does your day to day look like?

I am a Key Accounts Coordinator, meaning I deal with external sales customers. I provide building materials to local tradesmen, selling everything from underground to roofing products. 

What has been the most memorable moment in your career to date?

In my previous role I won the ‘Woman of the Northwest’ award – an annual regional award that was won for excelling within my job role.

What advice would you give to a young woman entering the industry?

Don’t take things to heart and remember to give as good as you get!

What’s the best part of your job?

Sovini Trade Supplies is the best place I’ve ever worked, so I’d say that just being a part of this company generally is the best part of my job.

It’s welcoming, the team are amazing & it’s honestly nice to work in a place where the staff genuinely get along and enjoy working together.

How do you think construction can attract more female candidates?

By showing them how welcoming the industry is. Don’t get me wrong it can be stressful, but no two days are ever the same and the job is always interesting.

What do you think is the most important change happening in the construction industry? 

That men are starting to become much more accepting of women in the industry and understanding of the fact women definitely have a role in construction, trade and similar industries.
