From 1st January 2016, new government legislation will state that plastic consumer units will no longer be allowed to be installed in properties.

Consumer units and similar switchgear will need to have their enclosure manufactured from non-combustible material or be enclosed in a cabinet or covering constructed of non-combustible material due to several consumer unit fires occurring within domestic premises.
